Three Hot Brunch Spots In London For Pancakes And More…
I’ve got a bit of a food, lifestyle, style post for you today. I’m a huge foodie and love discovering new places to eat out. I’m someone who gets overly excited about a menu and the design of the plates and mugs in a restaurant. I am also finding that places in London are now creating incredible menus for health conscious foodies as well as their fellow not so health conscious partners, friends, dads and I feel like a brunch has something for everyone...
Most of my girlfriends will opt for avocado on toast but sometimes we want a side of pancakes and a bellini after a green juice on a Saturday at 11:30am. Balance. If you’re looking to change your brunch up with chorizo, bacon and maple syrup pancakes or quinoa porridge then these three hot brunch spots are fab.
Last weekend I got to try three new brunch spots so I thought with pancake day next week, I’d share my findings with you because pancakes are for life not just for Tuesday.
I told you they’d be a little bit of my style in this post too and even though I certainly wouldn’t call myself a style guru or fashion blogger in any way, I do love clothes and putting looks together. So this is pretty much my go to look when I’m out and about in London.
I’m usually on the go so want to be comfy and I think I even had a sports bra on under the hoody for optimal comfort and easy to switch into leggings for yoga. It’s not an activewear look or sports luxe but somewhere in the middle I guess. I don’t work in an office so I could stroll around in my leggings but sometimes I like to look a bit more done. I mean I’m wearing a hoody so this is my idea of done.
Funny story re the hoody, it's from Jack Wills and I did a plank on the shop floor in Covent Garden for 3.05 minutes and they gave me 20% off. Yes I was on my own- oh the fun things I get up to! The new Jack Wills activewear is actually really cool. This was the first time I'd been in a Jack Wills store since I was 18 and I wasn’t sure the activewear could be much different to their main range but the cuts of the tees are really unique and the leggings were ultra sucky in! The hoodie is now a favourite as it's quite short which is nice with high waisted trousers.
The Kooples jacket was a birthday pressy to myself, I’d had my eye on it for ages and it went into the sale just after Christmas but I couldn’t find my size anywhere then stumbled across it in the Canary Wharf store and had to get it. I feel like it will take me through the years and dresses an outfit like this up a bit.
For the rare sunny days in February I wear my favourite round fleck Raybans and am currently living in the new Adidas Ultra Boost X which I’m sure you’ve now seen all over instagram! I’ve ran in them 3 times now, worked out in them and walked around London in them and I'm loving them, really supportive but comfortable too. I love the pop of colour and the sides don’t pinch in too much. I also love the sock like edge although you can’t really wear thick socks or any socks that aren’t tiny and thin really. I know it's really random but I’ve actually found the best pair from M&S! If you don’t like socks showing with trainers then you need these socks!
Okay enough about socks now lets move on to brunch! First stop 108 Brassiere, we went on a Friday morning so was very quiet apart from some business men so I don’t know how busy it gets at the weekend but the decor is beautiful. The service was excellent here too and I went for roasted tomatoes on sourdough, a mint tea, green juice and Natalie and I shared the pancakes because we simply can't go anywhere that has pancakes on the menu and not try them!
Brunch on Saturday was bottomless and I mean bottomless! Bellini's were flowing at Bourne and Hollingsworth for Natalie's official birthday brunch. Now check out this Exmouth Market spot on Instagram and you’ll be booking a table! I WANT it to be my house, it has a very fresh summery feel, perfect to cheer up this endless winter.
I wasn’t overly excited about my veggie brunch but I think I chose wrong. I wish I’d gone for double pecan banana pancakes. This is the perfect place for birthday celebrations, first part of a hen do or a date day! Ooh maybe for upcoming Mother’s Day! Basically any celebration, this place is the one!
Okay so by Sunday, I was quite brunched out I must admit but even though The Modern Pantry looks very swanky, it has a really relaxed vibe inside. Maybe because it’s in the city but it’s more of a business meeting, breakfast catch up with friend kind of place. I chose the warm quinoa & coconut milk porridge, coconut yoghurt, blackberry & apple compote, maple syrup, toasted pistachios which I LOVED but if you’re not into rich food then this could be a bit much as the coconut is quite creamy. I was green eyed over my friend Kirsty's potato, sorrel & nigella seed hash, buttered spinach, poached eggs, yuzu & moromi miso hollandaise, toasted seeds! I KNOW!
So they don't do pancakes but they do do waffles and two insanely amazing sounding hot chocolates, rose and cardamom and peanut and praline so I'll definitely be back!
Whatever your reason for brunching remember to add the sparkles because brunch without them is just breakfast ;) I hope you enjoyed this slightly different post from me.
Love, Lottie x
