As you know from my previous post, at the end of July I was in need of a week off, chilling in the sun with a good book and no wifi. The opportunity arose that we could book a very last minute week away. We started searching looking online and it was so exciting knowing that wherever we chose we'd literally be there in three days. I'm so used to counting down three or four months before; my South Africa trip was booked almost a year in advance and I even had a laminated itinerary just to give you an idea of how I usually holiday...

When we finally decided on Ibiza, I didn't feel any urgency to start booking up the top places to eat or read top travel blogs on how best to spend your time on the Island. I simply wanted to go, relax and see what happened and I think when you book any spontaneous holiday, there is a joy in not planning too much. I was surprised at how I didn't let the fact I wasn't in control stress me out. This type of holidaying is totally new to me but I notice lots of other people this year are booking very last minute holidays in the need to simply get away!

The main objective was to relax and if we found some lovely places to eat and chill out there too then that was an extra bonus. Luckily, that is exactly what happened! I read three books which I haven't done in ages but as a total foodie I was eager once we were there to discover some of the restaurants on the island. Some we were recommended by friends and others we stumbled on ourselves but here's a list of my favourites.

When I'm on holiday and all the time to be honest, I eat in balanced and intuitive way. I'd always recommend when on going on any trip to a new country to do a little research and have a list of places you'd like to try but always to take a wander and see what you come across. I'll never forget the time when we went to Venice and took a stroll one night to find a restaurant, after being uninspired by the busy tourist area, we spent about an hour wandering around the back streets and finally came across this tiny little place on a corner in a quiet dark street, there was only 3 tables lit by candlelight and the rest of the restaurant was this little old Italian woman's kitchen. She didn't speak a work of English and the place didn't even have a menu. There was just three different types of spaghetti all with a load of garlic and the most amazing tomato sauce. It was one of my best meals to date but I'd never find it again!

So if you are heading to Ibiza any time soon then try out my recommendations but also find your own secret gems - then let me know!Love, Lottie x
