My routines and habits for autumn

I really want to take care of myself over the next few months. I’m going to be honest with you, I have been so freaking run down recently. I keep getting some sort of cold, flu or virus every three weeks or so and then never fully recovering. I am SO ready for our 24 Days of Pilates 5.0 challenge starting within the LMP virtual studio on 1st December and really want it to kickstart the new “taking care of myself” me.

My tell-tale signs that I am heading towards being run down, burnt out or ill are mouth ulcers, snappiness, craving salty foods like takeaway fries and having zero energy. Some of those things are unavoidable as a juggling mum and business owner and sometimes a cheeky takeaway is absolutely heaven at the end of the week but in general I want to commit to routines and habits that help me feel my best.

Here are some routines and habits I know make me feel good. I’ve broken it down into morning and night-time to create two anchors at either end of my day. So even if the bits in-between go a bit topsy turvey than I can reset with the below habits.

I’d love to know what you guys do during this time of year to feel well?

Morning

  • open the shutters and let the light in.

  • crack open the window even if it’s a little chilly to let the morning air flow through house and help wake up our senses.

  • make the bed.

  • drink a glass of warm water.

  • drink cup of coffee while sitting near daylight and writing my morning pages.

  • do Pilates - I recently created this morning routine with my 7 perfect morning Pilates moves in for my youtube community.

  • get changed into something cosy for the day.

  • enjoy a warming breakfast with Sebby.

  • start work in home office or leave for work out of the house.

Evening

  • light a candle in the bathroom and lay out the products I want to use.

  • body brushing.

  • bath or shower.

  • deep breathing in bath or shower.

  • skincare and body oil.

  • cosy pyjamas that have been on the radiator.

  • make a warming tea or hot cocoa.

  • roll out mat downstairs and do some gentle stretches or meditation. - current fave routines for this are Rest & Stretch Yoga and this Restorative Pilates.

  • enjoy warming tea and homemade baked yumminess while watching something cosy/ maybe doing something crafty like scrapbooking or making cards.

  • brush teeth.

  • read novel in bed before falling asleep. Here’s my list of 5 star books I think everyone should read.

5 Gorgeous Retreats on LMP’s Radar

I have been lucky enough to have taught on and hosted many retreats in my Pilates career so far and after having my son Sebby in 2023, we ran two retreats that year in Cornwall and Tuscany with Sebby strapped to me in the carrier. However, I knew I had to put a little pause on them after that and am excited to run some again in the future, I’m thinking 2028 (lol) so save the date hehe!

Turning 33

I turned 33 last week on the 16th January 2025. This is not one of those posts where I tell you all the things I’ve learnt in 33 years. Mainly because honestly I feel like I am just getting started. 33 really is still young isn’t it? Isn’t it? I love how long life hopefully is and all being well I am only just over a third of the way into it. “In 2022, the life expectancy at birth for women born in the UK was 82.57”* I’m aiming for 100 but I’m also not obsessed with it.

The top 3 books I read in 2024 and why

Sitting here in the corner of my bedroom while my son Sebastien naps in the bed. I was reading my book for a while while he napped. It’s Talking At Night by Clare Daverley and I’ve very very nearly finished it but I’m doing that thing where you drag a book out because you’ve enjoyed reading it so much you don’t want it to end. It’s reached by top 3 books of 2024. Here’s why plus the two other books I highly recommend you read.

5 cute and comfy activewear looks for 2025

As a Pilates teacher and founder of online virtual studio/App LMP, you won’t be surprised to learn I have a lot of activewear. I feel best in comfy loungey but well put together looks rather than sporty workout wear. I think my wonderful members and followers feel the same as I get asked where I get my activewear from quite often. I wanted to start doing some journal posts with my fave looks in.
